Mark Emails read

Hi all, I am sure this will have been asked before but i was unable to find it,

I currently use the built in email client on my HTC Hero, is there a way of marking a bunch of messages read at once instead of having to scroll through each? I tend to read the ones i need to and want to mark the rest as read.
