Root Market Force Closing in Lithium Mod

AnotherHiggins

Android Enthusiast
I just rooted last week and have been digging Cyanogenmod. But I've been running either LauncherPro Plus or ADW Launcher EX on top of it. So I figured I'd try an AOSP ROM to see if things would speed up without having either Sense or ADW (the default on Cyanogenmod) running under my launcher of choice.

I just downloaded Lithium Mod in ROM Manager and installed it. Everything went smoothly. I was going to download Titanium from the market to install all of my apps back, but I can't even open the Market - it just force closes. If I go to Manage Applications and clear cache &/or clear data for Market, then the next time I launch it I'll get to the EULA, but it FC's as soon as I accept.

To top it off, there doesn't seem to be a file browser pre-installed in the ROM so I can't even sideload a replacement copy of Vending.apk. I'm sure I could do it via Terminal, but I don't really know linux so I don't want to mess with that.

So, is there anything else for me to try besides just restoring from a previous nandroid backup and starting over in ROM Manager?

You have to install google apps. Look under the cyanogen section in rom manager.
Google Apps was actually listed as an optional download under Lithium in ROM Manager & I did install it. Even if that would help, I can't get ROM Manager back on my phone without Market.

I'm just going to restore and start over. Thanks anyway, though.

I cleared the Dalvik cache & flashed Google Apps again. Since I couldn't do it through Rom Manager, I found a zip for Google Apps here (under the Add-ons section).

After that I was able to open the Market and downloaded Titanium. But as soon as the download was completed, the Market crashed. I opened it back up to download my Titanium Key and, once again, it crashed as soon as the download was complete.

Still, I restored from Titanium. But the Market continued to crash every time I downloaded or updated an app and it also crashed intermittently when I was just browsing.

I ran a Quadrant benchmark while I was running the ROM and scored a 1301. I'm pretty sure I got higher than that running ADW EX on top of Cyanogenmod.

When I was looking around for a solution earlier I also learned that Lithium Mod isn't currently being updated. Apparently there was a falling out amongst the developers who were working on it.

I'm restoring from a nandroid backup I made when flashing this ROM this morning. But thanks for your help. I'm just happy to have the freedom to try out things like this.

Same problem, it seems random. Sometimes it will force close witout me opening it, sometimes it stays open 15-20 minuts befor crashing, but always crashes when downloading.
