Help Market not working after system update

A system update came out. Thats all I did and installed. I can enter the market, but when I try to get into the details of an app, the market stops and thats as far as I can get.

try going into your manage applications settings and clear the data and cache for the market app.

in the about phone section what does it say under your android version?

Yeah I think the new system update is bugged. Uninstalling temporarily fixes the problem until it auto updates again. I tried contacting google but they've been ignoring me it seems.

Same with me :(

If clearing the data for the market/uninstalling updates for the market (if available) doesn't fix the issue, a factory reset may be in order.

The nexus does offer a complete phone backup of apps/data without needing root access.

The phone has been out for a while now, with everyone running the same OS version (4.0.2), and this is the first I've seen this problem.

It is a wide spread issue being reported by people who received the yakjuux 4.0.2 update this week. I guess Google saved this gem just for us. Not everyone is on 4.0.2 yet, several builds have yet to roll out since Google again halted the update a few weeks ago.

I haven't got the update yet, but I'm going to try uninstalling market updates/clearing data before hand and see if that makes any difference. Also doing a backup in anticipation of a factory reset. Fun...

This is a good idea. Google finally got back to me and the newest solution they have for me is a factory reset... I've yet to try it, but will be later today.
I'll keep you guys posted and let you know how it works, although I have my doubts about this working...

I'm on a Verizon GNex (just arrived yesterday) and it updated to 4.0.2 almost immediately yesterday. Market is working perfectly fine for me. I'll post back if any problems pop up.

Your Nexus is a different 4.0.2 build that was released weeks ago. You shouldn't have the same issues we have.

Congrats on the new phone, enjoy!

I wish I could get my hands on his version 4.0.2.. This is kind of ridiculous. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they need a new update to fix this. Though I havent tried a factory reset yet (will try later)...

Well you could always flash yakju, I guess. It's disappointing to need that step because the whole point of a Nexus is that you don't need to root/unlock and flash custom roms/updates. Best of luck, anyway!

I might just wait it out and see if Google comes up with a fix. The updated hasn't dropped on my device yet anyway.

And thanks to sdrawkcab25 for the backup link. Backups are a good practice even when buggy updates aren't pointing right at you with both barrels.

Yeah I think i'm going to hang tight for a bit too, after my factory reset. I wouldn't really have any idea how to begin "flashing" and stuff. Noob reporting in. Lol.

I've read a few comments today from people who suffered from this and tried the factory reset... it does seem to fix the issue. That's a relief.

That gives me hope. I'll be trying this soon after I get home from work in a couple of hours. I will report in to give my findings..

If you're in Canada a factory reset DOES NOT fix the issue. If you haven't upgraded yet, hold off. There is clearly a problem with the 4.0.2 update.

I'm very frustrated with this market stopping issue after the update.
If I do factory reset it will erase all my data?
This is first android phone I'm using....
