Help Market won't open

Anyone have any issue with trying to open the Market and having it flash briefly to a white screen before going back to the home page? This starting happening all of a sudden a couple days ago and am not sure if it's the phone or a google issue. I've cleared the cache for the market and restarted the phone. I also just realized the same thing happens when I tried to open Gmail. First the clock issue with gingerbread and now this. This is getting old. Some "smart" phone.

Edit 2: Looks like this is affecting all Google services. If anyone has any further information about when this'll be fixed or how to fix it please let me know. I tried to submit a question on google's support page and it had an error as well.

No one else having this issue then I take it? Google emailed me back with a canned response basically saying I should do a factory reset. I wish that wasn't the stock response for all problems. Weirdly enough my HTC clock widget started working again yesterday and it hasn't worked since I installed Gingerbread when it was released.

have you tried just pulling the battery?

I got the gb ota update the day it was first pushed, and haven't had a single issue with the phone itself.

No go on the battery pull. I haven't had too many issues other than the clock widget. Though I'm not sure if this related to the Gingerbread update or not.

I had this same problems. It started about a week after the Gingerbread update.

I tried everything to fix it. Google support was absolutely useless. The Verizon store guy didn't even know the OS had been updated and was of no help. HTC phone support was very helpful, but I did have to do a factory reset.

The reset fixed all of the problems, but I did lose my clock app about a week after I did it. I will have to wait with everyone else for that little problem to be fixed.

I hate that a standard solution for these phones is a factory reset, but it did solve the problems. If you choose to go this route, remember to back up all data and apps to your SD card and turn on the option for the phone to re-download all your app from the market.

I know this isn't a new solution, but at least you know that you are not the only one going through this. Good Luck!

Same problem on all Google apps (GMail, calendar, market). Hate to do a factory reset because of all the work involved in restoring the phone to how I built it over time.

Also, have been having horrendous problems with GPS function on the phone since the last Verizon OTA update a couple of weeks ago. They've ruined what was up to now the best smartphone experience I've had.

Guess my wife is in the same boat. Factory reset. My problem is that you can say it's not that big of a hassle to factory reset a phone, but that is just not true. Especially on a non-rooted phone. And what worries me further is that the Verizon tech support threads I read said that it's a recurring problem. So in 2 months I could have to reset her phone again... Awesome. Seems like no phone maker can release GB without ****ing everything up...

I ended up biting the bullet and doing a factory reset. I sent a pretty scathing email to google after they sent me the first canned response to do a reset and they had someone else respond back that that was the only option at that point. Google is how big and pays how much money to people to figure these things out and this is the best they can come up with? A factory reset did fix the problem for now at least.
