anyone run into any negative issues yet?

have you found a neat feature we didn't have before?

No problems so far. Features are on par with Marshmallow, so no surprises. Wifi calling is a good thing, but would be nice if it defaulted instead of used as a backup when you have no service.

I have yet to see any Android phone with Marshmallow, so it all will be a new experience.
us backwoods rural hicks don't get to enjoy a lot of companionship with other experienced geeks.

Hi AZ, I updated last week , up to now it is working fine and no problems, battery seems to last a little longer as well, all the features I use are available, but there are a lot I don't use so can't comment on them, go to it AZ you know you want to! Phil

Well, I updated but not quite sure if it's worth the trouble. It may be, but at first glance, phone has minor changes but performance is about the same, however, I do prefer the S-Pen of 5.1.
Also, I did a Factory Reset, forgot what a hassle that can be. MM may grow on me but for now I'm kind of ambivant about the MM upgrade.

Well, still long way from home.
Glad I saw the mention of having to do the FDR ,
That gave me pause.

Can't risk a dead phone 2500 miles from home

I will keep watching the thread.

Anyone else loaded Marshmallow yet?

Tnx guys

At first the S-Pen options did not load properly but now the S-Pen actually works quite well. Also, MM speed is better especially Chrome. Battery consumption has not improved, maybe not as good as 5.1, still evaluating. But with use, MM is growing on me.

I have not figured out what to do with S-Pen, I can use the Swype keypad at lightning speed, so never bothered to unplug the s-pen.

I was hoping to hear the battery does better, but at least you didn't say it is worse.

Still out in the sticks enjoying a camping outing with my friends.
no WiFi that is reliable... so still waiting to hear how it works before I commit to it.

Downloaded MM; the phone (battery) was hot after the update, enough that I had to turn off the phone. I like the new icons, and the music player seemed to be improved as far as sound quality is concerned. Interestingly, the phone had to be re-paired in my car.

This week I'll be trying WiFi calling, and I assume texting (?), in a location with WiFi but no Verizon reception.

Okay,
I decided that since there were zero complaints about the VZW MM update, that I would give it a go.

My primary goal was to hopefully acquire 4g, but that did not happen.
this just reinforces my opinion that the radio is dead in the phone.

right now, I'm at a bike campground and using my VZW WiFi 4g router. it has been an awesome tool for me ever since I first bought it 5 years ago. it always works, and in places that you would not think a signal could squeeze into.

trees all around me, buried way below the highway.... but 4g is here, and 5 full bars of it too.

But, my Note 4? uh huh, still only 3g.... so Monday I am going to find a VZW retail store and let them play with it a bit.. I have called CS and they got it to work once

I did the same thing earlier today, since I didn't see any complaints. No adverse effects to report at this time.

my only 'negative' is the lack of 4g, and I am inclined to think it is hardware or maybe a bad SIM card ( hardware )

I find that the Samsung techs at your local Best Buy are able to fix just about anything on the phone. Give it a try.

JM

I had forgotten that Best Buy offered up that service, and IIRC there is no charge for them working on VZW's phones??

I will visit with them today though, very irritating that I have to use my VZW WiFi router to get 4g

if you dont get 4G anywhere you go, but other devices do, AND you didn't have it before/after the update, then it's not software related and pretty much nothing you can do will address it. cheapest (aka FREE) is to swap the sim and/or call customer service/tech to have them confirm you're provisioned for 4G, as well as have them refresh the provisioning. if not either of those, do a FDR and setup as a new phone (no reloading stored data right away), then test again.

if NONE of that works, then I hope you have warranty coverage (and no damage). you can also send to samsung for repair.

Not sure if it's just me but with 2 days of MM, I've noticed battery life is shortened (hope I'm wrong). Any others?

1st, on the 4g issue.
Stopped at Best Buy and the nice guru lady said "yes, it is a SIM card issue but we have to charge you for a new SIM. IF you go across the street over to Verizon Wireless ( she pointed out the window for me ) they will do it for free."

I thanked her, and walked across the street and wallah! 10 minutes later my Note 4 works on 4g just fine now, Thank You Ma'am....

2nd, Battery Life.
It is too early for me to gauge this accurately, I am on a motorcycle tour, and keep forgetting to turn off DATA and have been riding thru mountainous country, places where cell sites don't exist for any carrier. The battery has needed to be recharged about 3 times/day..... ?? that seems excessive to me.

I'm also a bit perturbed that my download speeds are not as fast as I have seen them when I was back home on 3g.... yup, on 3g I was getting 20-30 mbps at times with www.speedof.me

I have run about 3 separate tests a few hours apart to see if I am just hitting the Busy Wireless Traffic Zone here in Dayton, Ohio or what??? dunno, but I am getting almost exactly 10 mbps up/dn. yes, it is just as fast uploading as it is downloading... and the uploads are faster than the downloads?????

that beats the hell out of my AT&T ADSL phone line Internet. that sick puppy gives me 10 mbps down, and 0.5 mbps uploads speeds.... uploading anything to YouTube is impossible from my home Internet connection. I have to use my cellphone to upload videos.

Overall, very pleased now with my Note 4 since it actually can use 4g now.

I saw a guy using a bigger one and asked him what it can do that my 4 can't???
he didn't have a good answer for me.... just that he wants to have the "Latest and Greatest"...

oh well, since my Note 4 is still working, I doubt I trade it off on something else anytime soon.

Since you are in Ohio, feel free to swing on down to Southeastern Ohio. Don't miss a chance to come see the beautiful Appalachian foothills. Male a swing through Hocking county to see the Hocking Hills state park and come on down to Athens County to see se beauty as you ride through the Wayne national Forrest. [emoji41] [emoji217]

I might have traveled thru some of that Monday.
I rode my Honda GL1800 from Meadows of Dan, VA and got on I-77N and went thru some of the prettiest green country that I have seen.

Spent my entire life working in the greater Southwest.
Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana......
lots of beautiful scenery there too, and lived next door to the Grand Canyon for 18 years.

but I had never been east of the Mississippi River..... there is a lot of pretty country to see in our good old USA. No need to travel to Europe, or South America, or Africa....
we have a lot of opportunities right here....

that is, if you can ignore our ignoramuses in the political climate...

the picture below was taken at Lake Murray State Park, Oklahoma.
