Marshmallow update

They said we have the update by the end of the year, in 8 more hours that will have been a lie. I was doing an online chat with Verizon and asked about the marshmallow update she checked on it and knew nothing about it

You can check the update "flowchart" on HTC's website. It lists both the Sprint and Verizon variants as being in the "carrier certification" stage, right before the update is pushed to users. Something may have happened to push back the time frame but it appears to still be coming soon.

Sprint is updating now.

Edit - the notice hit but it and the update have been pulled until the middle of this week. Somebody goofed and flipped the switch early.

Just received marshmallow last night on to my HTC One M8 on EE carrier installed fine.
Its also installing HTC sense 7.0 with it.

I received the update a few days ago, has many good points but also bad. It has a much more Google feel than HTC. The keyboard has changed and have replaced their emojis with Google's emojis. Absolutely terrible. I'm now looking to downgrade to android 5 if anyone knows how??

Update mine on EE couple of days ago.
Some minor issues ta first with apps not working properly, carried out a hard reset and so far it is running like a sweetie.
Battery lasting much longer so doze seems to be major improvement.

You can flash a stock ROM. Look up instructions to flash a custom rom, and follow them carefully. I currently have a rooted HTC One M8 with Android M running smooth as a river.

Just received notification about the update for my Sprint HTC M8 - I deferred at this time. Has anyone accepted the update? If so, have there been any problems post update?

Received the update last night around midnight, after manually checking for it (Sprint phone on RingPlus). Everything has installed and restored, with a message that HTC Backup will only now restore from a saved backup, so make a fresh one right before updating.

So far so good. Took about 1-1/2 hours to complete.
So far have not been able to find "Profile" widget to toggle between 'sound, vibrate and silent'.

Is there a list of new functions and how to turn them on?

Received this update yesterday on my M8. It took about an hour to update.

The good:
my phone is still functional.
seems much more Android than HTC
battery life seems improved
The bad:
took away swype keyboard
changed keyboard to stock HTC and no options to change background color
changed dial pad to bright white and no way to change without applying a theme
Boomsound works but its not as loud and seems very tinny
Silent option works but put it into DND mode even with play alarms checked it didn't actually play my alarm this morning...
Status bar icons are blocky and some are just gone(battery saver, alarm, etc) and not able to access the UI Tuner on the M8 to attempt to bring them back.
I had to apply a theme to get back the dark dial pad and keyboard. I hate themes
