Root Marvelc Wildfire Boot loader Help!

Ok So I'm as noob as noob gets when it comes to all of this and I need help.

I have been trying to root my HTC wildefire s with Marvelc. The Problem I am having is I cant turn s-off nor can I unlock the boot loader.

I've been going to the HTCdev website and trying to unlock the boot loader but it keeps telling me that I cant continue until I update to 1.05.1550.00
See the thing is I have 2.00.1550.07 so if I am correct I don't need to upgrade, even when I manually check for updates the phone says there are none.

here are the specs of my phone

Model: HTC-PG762

Device: Marvelc

Product: htc_marvelc

Version: 2.3.4

Os Info

Name: Linux

Version: 2.6.35.10-g7cbfaee

Arch: armv6i

Dexfile: true

Encoding: UTF-8

I need to unlock the boot loader so that I can follow the guide on how to root the wildfire s by mithusan55743

So far this has turned out to be allot more than I thought it would turn out to be.

How do I unlock the boot loader on this thing?

And will any of the methods I have read about actually root marvelc or am I going to get more compatibly errors?

Oh my carrier is MetroPCS

When you choose wildfire s on the htcdev website it will tell you, you need to upgrade your hboot then give you a list to pick your specific model. Then you download and flash that to your phone. then you will be good to go

Thanx, so far I think I got it to unlock the boot loader but after I followed a guide here on the site to root it super user didn't seem to recognize the root. whats with that?

I followed the guide about hot to root the phone with s-on. It unlocked the boot loader but wont root for some reason.

Did you install the superuser app per step 5a of the guide? Failing to do so is the #1 reason people think their phones aren't rooted.

If you are S-OFF and Clockwork Mod recovery, you can just flash a rooted ROM to obtain root.

For metropcs users, I suggest this one:

Its built specifically for MetroPCS and comes pre-rooted. Flash in Clockwork Mod recovery like any other ROM. (Make sure you wipe data/factory reset and wipe Dalvik!)
