Help Mass storage mode

Howdy,

I am new to Android and having fun getting used to the way it operates and the SGS2 but....

Trying to figure out if there is a better way to get the SGS2 into mass storage mode when connecting to the head unit in my car.
I usually use settings>wireless and network>usb utilities>connect and then insert cable but lately I have been having issues with background apps. If there are any running it will not let you connect in Mass storage mode only PC connect so I use Task manager to kill apps and then go and try to reconnect.
By the time I get back to try and connect I have the same problem in less than 3-4 seconds there are apps running again. Some times I need to kill the phone to get it to connect.
What happened to being able to select what type of USB connection you wanted to use?
And why does it need to turn off bluetooth to connect when you can reconnect it once you have established the USB connection??

well, if usb debugging mode is turned on (and sounds like it is), when u plug ur phone in, u should seen the usb connected sign on the notification bar. drag it down, and u can select transfer files (something like this, i forget ) direct from the notification bar to avoid going to the settings stuff..

to get to ur main issue, ive never had it.. as long as i just press home and connect the usb, drag notification bar and mount the sd cards, i dont have any problems. however i remember an issue like this when connecting via Kies (MTP connection) - it didnt work when i was using any apps, although even in this case, all i had to do was press home.
this was fixed in a new firmware version, so i guess u could try updating the firmware. which one are u running? (press *#1234# on ur dialer to find out)
