Help Mass Storage Mode

For some reason, I am unable to connect my Note and use to transfer files. I have a 16GB sd card in the note, and go to USB utilities and click "Connect storage to PC". If the USB cable is attached, it says "USB is connected. Remove the Cable". If the USB is not attached, it says "Connect USB cable to use mass storage" I am very frustrated. PLEASE HELP!

I want to stansfer music and movies from my mac mini to watch/listen to on the Note.

Same here I have both Mac & PC with no issue with USB, OS X needs USB debugging enabled Windows doesn't care barring Samsung Kies which requires it disabled.

International unlocked GNote bought in Malaysia

I normally connect via the drop down notification menu, I have also seen posts regarding the USB cable some apparently only charge the phone I have two both from Samsung

On a sub note once you connect with a Mac you need to eject the drives first prior to physical removal of the USB cable.
 
Mine is the AT&T version. I am using a 3rd party cable. I will try with the favtorycable when I return home. There is no extender connected at all. On the screen drop down, it says. MTP Connected, so I really dont see why it doesnt work.
 
So NO ONE was able to connect ANY Galaxy Note (International or AT&T version) to get USB Mass Storage Mode WITHOUT installing Kies?

How do you transfer LARGE photos and videos? I.e. multiple files in Gb's..
 
I have managed to do this with my international Note still running Gingerbread. I have USB debugging enabled but I am not sure if this is necessary for the connection. First press the connect storage to pc button THEN plug in the cable. The next screen (where I remember having to press another connect button) will then show the connection being established and give you the option to cleanly disconnect USB storage.

Just one caveat: I did find one PC (out of eight or so) where the connection would establish and then immediately disconnect again. No idea why. More wierd was that the same computer worked fine the next day.

Oh, I was using a Nokia USB cable. You cannot use the one that comes with the phone as that only has the wiring for charging (so I have heard).

Just tested mine on 3 different PCs and it worked each time. Kies was not present on any of them. I have the international version but this is stock android functionality as far as I am aware.

Start with cable disconnected.
Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB utilities (no need to click the connect button)
Plug in cable.
