Help Master Gmail Account

My cell phone carrier is Verizon. I did a reset on my phone and got locked out of my master gmail account on my phone. I've been trying to get th password reset with gmail but have had no such luck. I am curious about what will happen if I have to create a new master gmail account for my phone. Does anyone know what will happen if this is done? I don't know that I have any other options because I can't get the password reset and the verizon rep that originally created my gmail account when I purchased the phone decided to use some random security question to which she never asked for the answer to the question. Any help or input is greatly appreciated.

But, I have all my contacts saved in the Backup Assistant that is offered through Verizon. I am new to the Android OS so I wasn't quite sure as to what all might happen. But besides the things that you mention like contacts and market downloads, are there any other important things that I might lose? I am truly frustrated with the fact that I am not receiving help at all from Google about resetting the password.

BTW... you don't need that backup assistant BS VZW offers and android. it backs everything up to your Google account.

When you create a Google account it gives you an option to enter a recovery email address. I am guessing you didn't do that?!

I don't know what else you would deem important then your Market account. If you purchased any apps you would have to repurchase them on the new Google account. I had the same issue when Google Apps Business account became available to use with Android. Luckily I didn't buy a lot of software before that happened.

oh and... it is a Google account... not a Gmail account. Gmail is an optional feature of a Google account.
