Matte Screen Protector

I also do not like matte screen protectors. They sacrifice screen vibrancy and make it look 'ugly' in my eyes. I've owned a few of them (as well as privacy screen protectors; which are also matte) in the past and although the payoff is no glare and fingerprints, it's not worth the sacrifice for me. :p

I really prefer a tempered glass screen protector over everything else now a days. PET film is good and cheap, but I go through them very quickly as I really abuse the screen a lot. Better investment and protection for me personally.

But to each their own. :)

Whats a decent priced tempered glass protector ?

The ones ive seen are more expensive than some of the higher end cases

When I bought my last Mac I went to some trouble to make sure I had the unfashionable high gloss screen precisely because of crisper picture display for working on photos. Not sure I feel the same way about a phone.

I only have experience with Spigen's Glas.t (for the original Note) and Seidio's Vitreo (for the Note 2). They are around $40-50. But it gives way better screen protection and one doesn't have to go through a ton of PET film protectors every so often. I abuse the screen a lot and can go through 1-2 a month (and I tend to go with reputable companies; not the cheap ebay ones). For me, it's much cheaper and a better investment to get tempered glass.

And I did manage to scratch the Glas.t with a 8H rating within a few months of owning it. But it's barely noticeable. You have to look real hard to see it. The 9H on the Vitreo is still holding strong with no scratches. I will have to see how much longer it can stand my abuse of the screen.

The only drawback is you generally have one chance to get it on correctly. So you really have to do some preplanning and preparation prior to actually putting the protector on.

I just noticed Brando Workshop is making tempered glass protectors. Not sure how it is, but I have used their PET film protectors back when I had a Palm and Windows Mobile device.
