It should only stay on for however long you have your screen timeout set for, believe default is like 30 seconds or a minute...

I am having the same trouble at the OP right now. After missed calls and SMS, the screen will stay on even if I get it to only stay on for 15 seconds on my Vibrant.
After a missed call, my screen was on for the entirety of my shower.
Some assistance would be much appreciated.

Enable Puzzle Lock. Fixes this. Not sure if it's Android or TouchWiz but enabling Puzzle Lock solves it. It flashes when you get a message but shuts for a few seconds later, it's not like 30 or so.

Try a factory reset and see if that helps. It should not do this even if you are connected to the charger.

Thanks, this did the trick.
Kind of lame that I must have this enabled in order to not have my screen drain my battery, but I guess it's a small price to pay.
Is this on all Android phones, or just specific to the Vibrant?
Is there a fix?

I have had the phone a week (love it!) and had puzzle lock on for about 5 days. Today, the screen started staying on....

1. Charging, home screen stays on
2. Puzzle lock off, lock screen stays on
3. Reboot, puzzle lock back on, finish charging, back to normal.

I have the same problem as well. It never did this when I first got the phone.
The puzzle lock does turn off the screen but robo21 is wright, shouldnt need to do this.

Thinking of doing the Factory re-set.
Not looking forward to it.
But thinking....................................

Anybody got a clue, I have the same issue... plugged in (on), message (on). My son unplugged my phone last night to plug his in. When I got to it this morning it was almost discharged and the screen was on. I got a feeling some app that I installed is causing this but do not know which one it is.
