Root Maybe set cpu or some other cpu control will solve these problems?

So some of you may know I'm now running mik froyo with an updated radio and prl.

I had that problem with random restarts that culminated in my phone crapping out and losing everything but use of the phone and texting.

So I wiped everything a dozen times. Installed a stock rooted rom and stared at it for 5 minutes and then installed mik froyo. As I was syncing it with google it randomly restarted. This was before the prl, and radio update. It also happened while installing via appbrain. I was installing a lot of apps at once. It seemed the easiest way to do it without using ti backup.

Then I got to almost where I'd like it to be. Everything's in there just not necessarily in the right place. I was using the internet and it happened again. This is when it happens 90% of the time. I think it happens if I'm using the internet or cpu intensive app and the craigs notifca kicks on to update. The phone goes off. restart loop. battery pull.

So can I fix this with setcpu or similar app? What settings should I use with mik froyo?

Thanks.

Does this happen on stock rom/stock kernel as well? If it happens to you on a completely stock rom and kernel, it could be an issue with the phone itself

I haven't used a stock rom long enough to see if it is an issue. If it is an issue it is relatively new. I was stock for a few months and then rooted with fresh for a few months before I switched to myn's... that's when the problem started. Not long after I switched to myns.

So it has done it on multiple Roms?
What i did was go back to a completely stock phone for a while and see how it does. Get your stock rom, freshly wiped, and only download the apps you need. Do not use titanium to restore any data....start from a completely clean slate and see if you can get it to reboot.

I did this to see if i could find the problem, and for me, when i did some heavy CPU activity like playing Angry Birds while doing other things like texting or using Yahoo messenger, it would get wicked hot and just reboot within minutes.

So i unrooted, took it into sprint, showed them it rebooting, and had a new phone within a couple days.

I'm kinda worried about doing that. I'm sure I could recreate the situation. I was hoping set cpu would fix the problem somewhat. I'm 90% sure it happens when I use craigsnotifica and other stuff at the same time. My concern is that I'd end up with an unrootable phone for who knows how long. Is unrevoked all caught up? I haven't been keeping up to date.

Unrevoked is all caught up. If you recieve a replacement phone, the hboot 2.10 and software version 3.70 that come on it is rootable.
I havent heard of any updates in the near future, so it should be ok.

That is the only reason i was ok with taking it in for a replacement. Yeah, its a refurb, but i think that any problems that were on the unit in the first place have been addressed. Its been through quality control, a user (who put only 200 minutes on it), then back to htc and back through quality control. I believe any issues would be worked out by now, lol. Im quite happy with it.
