Help McAfee Security

I keep getting a notification to install the McAfee Security app that came with the phone.

Has anyone used this app and is it any good, or if not, how do I stop the notification from popping up?

I am mega paranoid these days since I actually read the information that android apps can retrieve from my phone.

Uninstall the app in settings/applications/manage applications and it wont bother you anymore

Agree with davethorp above - and anyway Theftaware from the market is a million times better

See when you are about to install an app and you read the following under permissions, does this mean the creater of the app can access these things on your phone?

This application has access to the following:

• Services that cost you money:
  directly call phone numbers
• Your messages:
  receive SMS,
  receive MMS
• Network communication:
  full Internet access
• Your personal information:
  read sensitive log data,
  read contact data,
  write contact data,
  read Browser's history and bookmarks
• Phone calls:
  read phone state and identity,
  intercept outgoing calls
• Storage:
  modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents
• System tools:
  modify global system settings,
  prevent device from sleeping

In a word, Yes.

Doesn't mean that the app is going to do nasty things though.

That's why you should only get apps from the market, and not use hooky apps...

unless you root your phone and firewall it etc.
