Media/Ring/Speakerphone Speaker

My media/ring/speakerphone speaker seems to be dead.

I've tried every setting I can think of. Silent mode is disabled. Volumes are turned up on everything. Bluetooth is disabled. I've even popped battery out and back in. Nothing. I only know the phone is ringing when I have vibrate on.

My understanding is that there are no replacement Bionics under warranty. I don't want to switch phones. I've got the lapdock, the media dock, the standard dock and the extended battery.

Sigh.

The ear speaker still works so I can still use it as a phone without BT if I want to. I prefer BT anyway.

The lack of ringer/SMS noise is a significant problem though.

Any ideas on a setting I might have missed or a way to repair the speaker if it is indeed broken?

I left my music player on for a while and was walking around. Getting in and out of the car etc. and it does occasionally make noise through the speaker. It would appear that my speaker has a loose connection.

If you want to try and fix it try the link above.

It was a bit of a trick to find a T5 Torx bit (smallest I had was a T7). I finally found one at a local auto-parts place. $8 for a small kit of tiny bits.

Removing the sticker was a bit intimidating. I cleaned off the contacts for the speaker with a small but stiff brush and some compressed air and put it back together. Despite my best efforts, the sticker is not quite straight.

IT WORKS!
