I was wondering if you can get an app for the nexus 7 that can stream the content from my pc to the tablet?

DNLA is your friend. Install Universal Media Server on the PC and BubbleUPnP on the Nexus. You will be able to watch videos or listen music stored on your PC to your Nexus 7.

I keep all my media on my server and share it using standard file sharing. I use XBMC to stream the files. XBMC will stream using a huge variety of formats.

I use this method on my Nexus 7 (2012). Can't see why it won't work on an 2013 Nexus 7.

Note: I don't think you need to use MX Player (although I do anyway).
