Help media taking 62% of battery

I looked at what was consuming my battery and the media is sky high, any suggestions?? Im down to 80% after being unplugged for 20 min. Im also new to the maxx also and rips or tricks will help to please.

3 hrs off charge and im down to 60% with very little use....
Bad battery. it can happen. i'm sorry you got stuck with a bad one.

I have been unplugged since 6am and have been streaming music for 90 minutes and I am still at 90. It has to be a bad battery

This ia day 2 with the phone, should i guve it a few more days and if not improvement call Verizon and have them ship me a new one? Or should i do a factory reset first as well?

I have something called "Media server" killing my battery. Currently it accounts for 34% of my battery use. I don't even know what it is and it doesn't show up in the task killer so I can't kill it.

This is my 5th full day with the phone, and I have yet to be really impressed with the battery. My best day it went from 3am to about 8pm and only dropped to about 50%. But factor in 8 of those hours were when I slept, and I dropped 50% in 9 hours.

I dunno, I guess that's not terrible, but that was just one day. The rest of the days I'm down to below 30% with the same usage. I got similar, if not better battery life from my Galaxy S2 with a stock 1850 battery. If I'm not going to get amazing battery life, I might just switch to the Nexus.

That's simply not right. I am a heavy heavy user (10gigs a month) and have yet to need my work or car charger. I would go to Verizon. Remember, if you wait too long, even though you are still under warranty, any replacement they send you will be a "used" phone.

Media Server is a few different things, I know it as netflix.

Some others have reported that it's also some other things that I just can't remember right now

1 hr 2 min off charger down to 80% with very little use, i guess i have a bad phone?? Its also very hot on the screen

Something smells funny here. Just sayin'

That is bad, you better call VZW. Here's 101:

list your apps
get a screen shot of battery life or a picture
remove any ATK's or similar
Factory reset and only start installing apps slowly, day by day.

Your case is certainly not normal, but without more info, nobody can help diag. Could be you download some prawns and they are killing your battery life. Darn shrimp can be nasty! Even with all that info, there's no saying what it specifically is.

2 hrs 16 min 60% not much use at all, already did a factory reset since i first posted this morning, display 40%,media 33%, cell standby 7%, phone idle 7%, browser 7% have not downloaded anything since factory reset today.

Phone Idle 18%
Cell Standby 15%

Please detail which apps you are running. I think the chance that you got 2 phones both with a bad battery is very remote.

Ok so i noticed if i put my sd card in the maxx that was in my incredible 2 the media shoots sky hi and phone heats up like its loading? But if i take it out and put the one back in that came with the maxx the percentage goes down and dosent heat up, could there be something that is causing this on the other sd card? And should i load music and pictures directly on the phone its self? Or load it all on the sim card thatt came with the maxx?

If there is a ding on the phone call Verizon and ask why they sent a used phone in the first place...I would make sure they gave me a new phone in the box... If you call them and they tell you they can't. Go into the store and make sure they do.

Most stores are still out of stock, got a confirmation from a friend in chicago, and most other stores in my area mimic this trend.

I'd call or go into the store and demand satisfaction! I really hope you called VZW back to let them know!

Oh i did be getting a new one in the mail tomorrow ..

Do a Google search. Lots about this. Basically you should delete all pictures and videos. You might have a corrupt file. If that doesn't work try the same thing with music files.

I have this problem as well. So far, no lasting solution. It's not faulty hardware. I've had the phone for months and the problem only started a few days ago. I'm getting extremely frustrated.

I've tried deleting pictures and videos, but that didn't help. Do I have to remove every picture from every folder (including images that are part of app installations)? That doesn't sound very reasonable.

I need a solution.
