Help Mediaserver draining the Xoom battery

Recently I noticed my battery is draining very quickly and I haven't been using my Xoom any differently to normal, nor have I installed any new apps, so I checked the battery information and Mediaserver is top of the list with a high percentage.

I have never had this issue before and my version of Android has not changed in a long time and won't be, because it's vanilla that Google are not updating on the Xoom any more.

I don't know what has started it and reboots don't stop it.

Any ideas?

Mediaserver processes involve pictures, videos, and music... you haven't added any apps but it's possible one updated and now you have a problem. Check to see what (if any) updates have happened lately -- you might have to delete the particular app and re-install.

I suggest you try free app GSam Battery Monitor -- it will give you a more in-depth reading as to what exactly is using your battery ("mediaserver" is pretty broad).
