meebo questions (and weatherbug)

1. Uses data only, doesn't count toward text messages ,correct?
2. If I leave it signed in but not actively chatting, does it eat up more battery than if it is off? (or since its idle, it makes no difference?) (Same Q with weatherbug- temp in notification bar all day- eat up battery?)

I feel like I should know the answers, but just want to double check !

2. Yes it eats up a significant amount of battery.
