Meep! custom firmware

I don't believe so, but you can always return your computer back to default after you have finished this process, no need to even use internet while installing and customising the tablet.
 
Finally got it working. I highly recommend downloading the flash to and firmware from your phone's browser (I used chrome), as going through 4shred and divinefiles or whatever site hosts the firmware totally destroyed my PC. Phone is safer.

May be a little late....

If your Meep tablet still has original firmware and will connect to ADB, you can do a partition dump and save the .IMG files to your computer in case you want to restore back to original. Once you use the LiveSuit and flash the new firmware the stock will be gone for good.

Good luck asking Oregon Scientific for the firmware, they won't give it to you. Only option is to send it to them for a flash. Or you could make a thread asking for somebody to dump the files for you

Iam all new to the android world.
I bought my son a meep for sime time ago but i just work like cr** with the parent control.

How do i backup my original rom, if somethime goes wrong, can i restpre original rom.

If you're new to Android there's no easy way to back up and/or flash the files. There is no custom recovery made for the Meep.

If something goes wrong with the new firmware install, you can just flash it again, reset and it should work fine. I installed the firmware on a bricked Meep I bought for $5 and no problems.

Got 3 Meeps from the meh.com deal and flashed custom ROM. Two of those have camera working fine with the custom ROM, one doesn't.
 
Hello friends, sorry for the long inactive time.
Posible patch for camera:
1-Open terminal emulator
2-su (enter)
3-cd /system/vendor/modules
4-rm hi704.ko
5-cat gc0309.ko > hi704.ko
6-exit
7-reboot the tablet.

I probe this method with a rare version of the Meep! and the camera fix working for this.

I've tried this but it didn't work. I wanted to try the ov7670 driver but ov7670.ko wasn't in the system/vendor/modules folder.
 
Hello, i just register to say thank you to amiga68k. I have buy a second hand tablet and Oregon doesn't answer the last owner for deactivate his account. So i can't register the tablet with my account and it isn't possible to use. With this custom firmware i have a good tablet and all is working like a charm including cam. Thanks a lot. ps : excuse my english if i make any error.

Just follow the instructions, it worked fine for me. Push and hold down upgrade button and power button at the same time, then plug USB cable in. I guess what you lack is the third hand
 
Hi amiga 68k, thank you very much for this custom firmware. It brought my meep tablet back to life. I own meep x2 as well, it was revived in different way by sending nova launcher apk to meep x2 by bluetooth and installing it. There's another thread on how to root a meep x2. Mine x2 tablet is localised now, however I'd like to add another language to original meep x2 settings menu, because it's still in english. Does anybody know a way how to do it? Thanks
