Memory card - need some help

Can I play music and videos directly from the home screen using the default Music and Videos icons if they are stored on a memory card?

er....yes. Why wouldn't that work? The Media Scan will pick up all music/videos.

Yes. I thought so too. But not until I formatted the card using the S2 itself.

The card came pre-formatted, so I thought that would be enough..

Oh well. All's well ............................

For reasons that no-one appears to have identified, Android/SGS2 sometimes have trouble with cards that can be cured by reformatting. It has been a common theme on here so your experience is not unusual.

I didn't format mine myself and I've had no problems but doing so has cured numerous problems for other people.
