quick question, can I just buy a larger memory card and copy eveything across and just put it into my Hero and it will work?

have you root your Hero? if yes, you should do a partition of your sdCard. It works better and also you avoid the message "sdcard damaged". this is advisable only if you root your Hero and installed a MoDaCo custom rom, otherwise it will work without partition.
