on my Droid 1 I am having a memory issue. as of lately I go to install an app and it says that I ran out of memory but I am only using 2gb out of my 16gb memory card. I have all my apps going to my SD card. AI dont think that its my internal memory that is full because when I go and uninstall an app off of my sd card then I am able to install the new app.
I cant find out how to see how much memory I have left on the internal.
Does anyone have any idea?

Sorry, but even when you install apps to the SDCard, part of it is still installed to your phone's memory.

How much free memory does your phone show?

Get "App 2 SD Free" from the Market which will ensure that all apps that can be moved to the SD card are.

Unfortunately, the issue is that many apps cannot be moved to the SD card, including some that are not deletable on non-rooted phones.

One thing that may help is clearing data/cache for programs. For instance, my Twitter app data usage was huge (30+MB) and I cleared that out to get some more space.

For a stock/non-rooted Droid, I believe 261.75MB are available on the phone itself.

yeah, some of that is going to be cache, too, see jon's reply below, and my reply to his post.

Indeed, cache plays a big part of it. Another thing that plays a big part of it is the factthat we are limited to 256 MB of memory to begin with - and caches, as well as other stuff, still use part of that space even when moving files to the SDCard - some programs play well with it - like Google Earth, a 22 MB install, leaves less than 1 MB when moved to the SDCard.

others will move less then 20% to the SDcard.

You cannot move apps that you are using as widgets on your home screen.

You cannot move most system apps either.

Finally, you cannot move apps that the developer has marked as protected.

yup done all that too.
Thanks guys.
I guess I'll just have to deal with that too now.
Just so diappointed because my problem viewing video files was never fixed either and I have not been able to watch videos even from youtube and nobody was ever was able to fix this problem.
Oh well, cant wait to upgrade 9 MONTHS FROM NOW!

Let's try this - get the AppBrain App and install it and then sync to your Google account and list the apps you have installed here.

Like this:

Phone: Motorola Droid
140 total, 115 free (82%), 25 paid (17%), 86MB total size, $100.31 total price
