Hello and welcome to AF. :)

Have you tried clearing your cache, deleting old messages, uninstalling and reinstalling your apps?
Have you also tried moving your apps to your SD card?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums.

I know of two ways of solving this problem:

Option 1.) Go into Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage Applications and wait for this list to be populated with not just the applications but the amount of memory they are using up. Select a larger app and on the next screen if the the app can be moved to the SD card you'll be able to push the Move to SD button. Repeat the process for each app.

Option 2.) Replace the SD card with a larger one.

I hope this helps. Thanks for joining the community. :)

Thanks for the reply but I have done everything you have suggested many times and the only apps I have that will go to the sd card are tapfish and antivirus.Tapfish is also the only game that force closes all the time due to internal memory issues.

I also have an 8 GB memory card with over 5 GB free

Have you tried deleting some apps?
I sure have.I have to keep uninstalling even updates in order to even play music. There are times when I can have 4 or 5 games installed and moved to the SD card and everything is fine then all of a sudden I'm short on memory so I have to go through and uninstall all the apps that I just installed.I hope this is making sense???

have you tried clearing 'data' from some of the larger apps? the original Incredible had this problem ALL the time.

The only apps I have in my phone that I have added are tapfish, antivirus and twitter everything else came with the phone. You name it I've done it short of throwing against a wall or resetting back to factory status. This phone definitely has a ton of useless apps in it that aren't even being used but came preinstalled.

Maybe it's the updates taking up space or something with the game. Any games that require you make a profile or a save?
the updates I know are part of the problem.Once I do an update I end up having to uninstall it due to memory issues.
Do you happen to know how often HTC does software updates for this particular phone?

I've moved this thread over to its area of support. :)

Note: I have an HTC EVO 3d phone with an 8GB SD card. I can only installed three games and X amount of applications that has X amount of MB. Even though I still have X amount of space remaining; I'm not able to download another application that has X amount of MB even though i have more space available. Almost all applications is installed on the phone, not the SD card. So there might not be enough room for some applications. The thing is an 8GB SD card is not big enough to install some of these applications. So, if you're having problems with an application then you need to uninstall that app.

You can either "reset" the device to its factory state - and reinstall your application starting with the problematic one(s) first. Or as I've said in my earlier post -- replace the 8GB SD card with a bigger one.

The problem is there is nothing that can be moved to the sd card that isn't already there.Everything other then the 2 items on my car are all part of the phone's programming.I have gone through every app in my phone and Tapfish and antivirus are all I can actually move to the card

I think there are 2 issues being confused here. Inability to install due to lack of internal space is not the same thing as an installed app force closing, unless that app is trying to fill your remaining internal storage when you launch it.

Pre-installed apps are not using your internal space, because they live in a different storage partition. However, all apps' data will be using internal storage. It might be worth viewing your apps sorted by size (can do this in the Manage Applications menu, or using an app like Quick System Info) to see which are the big space users. Sometimes Contacts Storage goes crazy with duplicate contacts and sucks up a huge amount of space, and social networking apps can do such things. Email apps that cache mails on the phone can also eat space (I prefer this to always needing a connection to read a previous mail, but only use low-traffic email accounts that way). If you have some rogue app using 10s of MB for its data that could be part of the problem, and the system apps can do that as well as the ones you install, so check "all apps" rather than "downloaded".

The Desire is 2 years old now, and I'd not expect any significant updates to its software from HTC.
