Root Memory managing problem

Newbie
I have a Galaxy Prevail and recently started receiving messages telling me "phone storage space is getting low" so I went into the applications manager and moved nearly everything to the 8gig SD card. I then downloaded a couple programs and now receive that same message nonstop.

When I looked at the Storage Use folder and it shows that there is 292mb used with 7.1gb free. I can't understand what I'm doing wrong and why I am still receiving those low memory messages.

I downloaded San Disks Memory Manager but it doesn't appear to be useful in this area.

Thanks a million for posting that. I will check it out after I post this follow up question to your post.

What does cm7 mean?

Thanks again!!

try this http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...rktremor-a2sd-prevail-updated-11-18-11-a.html

it will solve your problem, and explain why you at having it
Alternatively if you are using cm7, there is an app called s2e
They are pretty much the same. More on this here http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/396466-link2sd-vs-apps2sd.html

link2sd would be another suggestion too, it's one of my favorites. works great on my prevail

What would happen if I moved everything that is currently on my SD card to the cell phone, reformatted the SD Card, and reinserted it. Would doing this render all the apps on the cell phone useless?

It shouldn't render the apps useless at all. In my experience, it wont do anything to harm the operation of your phone. As a test, try booting your cell phone with the sdcard removed before you format it and verify the apps are working, if they are then obviously you are in luck.

Very important to remember, if your sdcard has a second partition, some mods (like cm7) will format the extended partition on the sdcard and mount it for their own purposes, wiping all of your apps on there and mounting the extended partition. This will make link2sd error out and cause some real headache. Moral of the story, if you're going to install any rom using CWM or with the sdcard in, be prepared to format your second partition.

For the record, the software I linked in the guide I posted can resize partitions without damaging what's inside them.

I tried it last night (took out the card to see if it effected the programs on the phone). Only one or two apps were effected and the apps that were effected are not that important.

When using a SD Card for an Android cell phone or tablet, are the SD Cards being used SUPPOSED to be formatted for that particular device? The reason I ask is because the SD Card I currently have in my Android Cell (Samsung Galaxy Prevail) I used to use in my old mpg player. I wonder if that's one reason I'm having problems with it in my cell phone, even though there's nearly 7.9 gig free (out of 9 gig possible).

I'm having a similar problem with my Nextbook Tablet which is also Android.
