Help Memory usage

I am new to smart phones and have had my Atrix2 for about 3 weeks. My question is, The phone seems to stay around 70-80% memory used after the phone has been on for a while. For a phone with 1 gig of ram shouldn't it have more memory free? After a restart it hangs around 50-60% till i start playing on the phone.

I noticed this after i installed the mobo task killer.

i was thinking about doing a factory reset, and starting over because i have installed and deleted a few apps i won't ever try again.

thanks for any help

it really depends on what apps and widgets are running in the background. The more widgets you have and notification update setting, the more memory is used. What I do is for certain 3rd party apps I downloaded, if it doesn't have an exit button, I end it or have it on the auto end list in the stock apps manager.

Ever since Gingerbread I do not install task killers any more. I don't know about everyone else, but they seem to really mess up my phones. I used to be with Tmobile and had the Samsung galaxy S 4G and I installed the mobo task killer as well, and it seemed to totally mess things up. The phone seemed to run sluggish and slow. I tried uninstalling it, but it was the same way, I ended up factory resetting it and seemed much better at that point. I have the Atrix 2 now through AT&T and this phone seems amazing compared to the 2 Samsung phones I had through tmobile. I do not beleive you even need a task killer for it. Gingerbread does a pretty good job in my opinion. I also agree with itsallgood depends what is all running. You can kill apps with the built in task manager as well.
