Help Memory Use when recording

been taking some video's while i've been at the snooker in sheffield and I went to put them on youtube and facebook and they wont upload because they are too big!

I have a 2 Minute video an it says its taking up 500mb! that can't be right!

I just did a 2 minute video on 720p to compare and it was 116mb.
