Help Menu buttons no longer working

For some reason my menu buttons are no longer working. Both left and right. Rest of the phone works fine. I just cannot go back any steps or into the menu for apps. Which also means I can't use the short cut for google now.

Anyone have any ideas? Apart from an upgrade to JB yesterday, nothing else was installed. And it worked after the upgrade. Unfortunately, I was a bit hammered last night so it's possible I damaged it somehow. Although I do not remember anything like that.

If you are rooted then check this thread out...

It put those buttons on your screen.

Thanks Clint, but my phone isn't rooted. Well it was before the JB update, but I think that resets it?

This is really getting on my nerves now. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I have done a full reset and for a while they were working ok. Then they stopped. I installed another launcher and Home Switcher. Which allows me to restart touchwiz. Then they start working again. However, when I do that, it resets all my widgets and short cuts to the defaults and have to re-do them all.

Anyone else got any ideas? Wondering if they phone is faulty or if this is a bug I have some how caught.

This just happened again. I have a live wallpaper, so stopped this, but didn't make a difference. Went into the task manager type thing and cleared the RAM memory. It closed 27 applications and then the menu buttons started working again.

So to me it indicates a memory / performance issue. Anyone got any ideas on how I can control this better? Is there an app out there that would show me exactly what's eating up my memory leak if there is one?
