Does anyone know of a relatively easy way to change the font of the Android OS? Right now I'm using WW and tried Googling it but couldn't find anything i could make sense of other than a tutorial written in very bad English.

I'm guessing you would replace the native font file with the desired font. Its on the phone and its a normal TrueType font file (I have it installed to Windows and works flawlessly). Its in /system/fonts. I'm not sure which font Android uses as the main system font, since there are others for web browsing and such. There are two main ones, Droid-Sans and Droid Serif. Make sure the new font has the same file name and is a TrueType font. Experiment a little, and report your results back here.

Just make sure you do a Nandroid backup in case you mess up and fonts don't work.

Okokok, I've got my font selected and renamed and all (simply to DroidSans), so how do I copy it to my phone instead of just my SD card? I tried using Astro but that didn't exactly work. I could find system/fonts/ but it wouldn't let me copy files there.

You'll need a app like Root Explorer (not free, but definitely worth it, for me anyway) that will give you root access to the phone's internal memory.

Egad I've got it!


Through far more research than i would have liked, I stumbled upon another thread about this very same topic. I downloaded two apps, one called Type Fresh and one called AndExplorer. Type Fresh finds the system/fonts/ folder and shows all the font files. To change one, you simply touch it and select a font to replace it with.

I'm not entirely sure if AndExplorer is required, but it wouldn't let me change it the first time without downloading it. Afterwards it did a SUReq, which I allowed, and it worked flawlessly. After a reboot I'm rocking Anchor Steam as my system font through replacing the DroidSans file ;D

I'll try and post a how to guide in the Everything Root section of the forums, but being (completely) new to forums it might take a bit to figure out how lol. Thanks so much for your help Demache! It was greatly appreciated!
