Help Menu key not working, lock/unklock slide disappered and lots more

Hey folks.. I desperatley need help. My phone has just stopped working properly.
1) I only noticed yesterday that my home key was no longer working. Nomatter how hard or how many times i press it wont take me to the home page. i used to be able to press once and it take me to my home page or press hard and it would show the last 6 apps i had opened.

2) then i noticed the unlock/lock key is nolonger there. so my phone will not lock/unlock. i used to use the power on/off button to lock it when not in use or wait for it to do so automatically but it no longer does that.

3) 2 weeks ago i tried to backup all my stuff but it would not backup. i set up auto backup and that wont work either.

4)Tthe phone freezes or force closes even when i am viewing my messages or trying to make a call. anything can trigger the freeze.

5) And today i opened my Fb page and while int he middle of writting a comment, it force closed then it reopened on its on asking me to put my useranme and password.:confused:
I always download my apps from android market and only upload those with the best reviews..do know if this can be the issue. i have looked for anti virus applications just in case it does need anti-virus but decided not to download one.
am very worried as i was going to contact my service provider Orange. this is driving me insane as i am stating to get fed up with all these things going on.
I updated my phone to 2.1 in November
 
Do you have a silicone case on the phone? These have been known to press slightly on the side keys which then disables the other keys.

thanks for your reply, I would reflash but since i cant back up all my apps, photos or numbers how will do this. I am not really very good with these things so if you could explain step by step if you dont mind. thanks:o:o

You could sync your apps with AppBrain, your contacts with gmail, and all your photos should be stored on the SD so won't be affected.

hi X10iUser...
you mentioned flashing the mobile. how do i do that. is it the same as resetting?? i am not too good with the mobile/IT jagoon so if you could explain for me i would really appreciate. I have gone on some of your links but 3/4 of the stuff there i just dont know or understand... sorry:o
 
If you use PC Companion, support section it will tell you your phone software is up to date and it should give you an option to repair if you are experiencing problems with your phone.

This will wipe your phone back to factory settings but will hopefully resolve any problems that are software based. Make sure your contacts are synced with google and that your apps are synced with appbrain to make the setting up of your phone painless once it has been wiped.

If doing this and removing any casing does not solve the problem of your hardware buttons then I would contact your carrier with a view to getting it repaired under warranty.
