Help Menu keys light

I just got a new incredible to replace my old broken one. I cant figure out how to set the menu keys on the bottom to light up any time i hit the power key to "awake" my phone (like my old phone) instead of that happening only when its dark. Im guessing its a setting for the ambient sensor? how can i change that

Go into the brightness settings and turn off automatic brightness.

The automatic brightness setting is the only setting that can change the behavior of the soft keys. Maybe try setting it and rebooting the phone.

tried restarting still no difference

actually nevermind i just realize my old phone is the same way it just seemed like it would always light up the softkeys the few times i tried it when i was comparing my old to new phone. I guess there is nothing you can do about that, sorry.
