Help Menu/settings/Applicatons? Who knows what all this other stuff is?

Wish I could send a screen shot. Here it goes, in Applications/ running, and others in Applications, where can I find descriptions for running services like ( com.andriod.providers.applications.) and the like. I would just like to know what these things do, and if its ok to stop them or clear data.

Does clearing data from these type sevices do harm?

last would XDA be a better site to ask this on?

force close does more harm that clearing data. clear data is like clearing cache.

com.andriod.providers.applications

Well that is a general applications service. Most everything else can be identified by what the title is. for example, com.android.gmail is your gmail.

and if its ok to stop them or clear data.

You should never stop apps or use task killers. that just disrupts the way android works, and will end up using more battery in the end.

It could. For example, if you clear the data from your messaging program, you will lose all your texts.

huh? thats like asking a Ford dealer if a Chevy dealer is a better place to buy a car. You are certainly welcome to ask your question at either place...

Thank you for the info. Sorry bout' the XDA thing (brain fart). Still would like to know more info on these app services. I would like a " this does this" type of break down. Might be a bit much to ask though, I know. Just like the knowledge of what is on my hi-tech phone.
