Root Merge help needed.

Lurker
My son brought home a HTC Merge and for some reason wants to try and fix it....

This is the situation:

System: nTelos
Root: No
ADB: Debugging does not appear to be activated

The phone boots past the HTC screen and appears to get into a corrupted version of Android. The screen doesn't display anything but all the soft buttons and the keyboard key lights.

I can also boot into the bootloader and have reset the phone several times and tried flashing signed files from other carriers with no luck.

The phone is visible to fastboot but not adb.

If I had a signed file from nTelos I think I could get it recover and the go through the normal root process. Short of that I'm at a loss as to my option with adb not working...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

adb will work in recovery. you can follow the directions to htcdev unlock and flash a recovery.

once you have a working recovery,we can try and lower the main version, and create a goldcard so that you can flash a different carrier ruu(verizon exploitable).

if thats successful, you can run thru the steps to s-off and superCID,wich will make recovery easy from that point forward,as there are no security checks keeping you from runing any ruu you wish :)

holler if you have questions :)
