Help Merging contacts Galaxy S2

Many contacts on my S2 are multiple. For example for one friend I have an entry with the SIM card icon, one with the google icon, and two with no icon. Of the two with no icon, one contains his landline number only and the other his email address only. As far as I know the entries could have come from three places: Gmail, Outlook and the SIM card. All details are held in just one entry in each of these locations, so I have no idea how they get split up. How can I merge these into one ideally, but without losing the entries from the SIM card as I will undoubtedly change phone when my contract runs out (or does that matter if they are held in Gmail). Open your contacts, long press on one of the entries, select join contacts, then select the contract you want join.
