Root [Merit] Installed ROM and Storage Issue

Hi,

I installed this ROM on my friends StraightTalk AT&T ZTE Merit. It installed fine. I partitioned the SD card with "mini tool" on Windows7. I give it a size of 1GB and EXT4.

The ROM has a App mover built in. I started with 111MB after the ROM was installed and no Apps loaded on my end from the Playstore.

I installed 6-8 Apps and the internal memory went to around 50MB. I rebooted and it remained around this point.

I had a Samsung Galaxy Prevail with a ROM on it that used the memory card for storage and I have a few internal hundred MB with a bunch of Apps. The internal memory reflected the SD card partition. The phone in reality had very low memory.

Any ideas, or steps to retrace?

This is the ROM I used:

Were you sure to use the kernel that goes with that? I can't remember if it was added to the package or not. Let me contact the creator of said ROM.

Well, let's see what happened:

Did you follow the directions in the post?
No. You used Windows to partition the sdcard, when the post tells you to use CWM.

How do you fix? Easy:

Boot into CWM, "wipe data/factory reset"

Reflash the ROM.

Reboot the Recovery via the menu entry in "Advanced"

Run the "Partition sdcard" entry in the "Advanced" menu in CWM6. Choose whatever you want in there.

Press BACK until you get to the main menu in CWM6, select "Reboot System".

A long time later, the phone will boot to the "Green Guy". Do whatever.

Check "Big Data" works by going to Settings > Storage. Internal Storage should be the size of the sd-ext you made.

Your problem was you decided to format the sdcard in Windows WHICH DOES NOT WORK FOR EXT TYPE PARTITIONS.

ROM, if installed via the instructions, and not "doing your own thing because Windows is easier" won't work.

Thus, the Step-By-Step instructions in the post. They are there so the ROM installs and works correctly.

I tried to partition a few time in CWM. I would go to storage and look at the space on the SD for the 8GB card and it was over 7+.

I was setting a 1GB partition in CWM. When I plugged the card into my PC using "mini tool" it also didn't show a partition created by CWM.
