Root [Merit] Rooted can't tether... need help.

A friends has a Net10 z990g and I have rooted it put touch recovery and the 777 oc kernel on it; I've removed a ton of apps he didn't want/ need and the phone is running great.

Now the issue is I can't get any tethering app to work USB or WiFi.
He prefer USB tethering but if anybody has a solution to get either to work would be great.

Never mind... he returned the phone and got some LG Optimus instead.
