Root [Merit] Upgrade to Android 2.4 or higher

Hey guys. I have been using my Merit in the work field taking payments with PhoneSwipe (a transaction medium similar to Square). All was well until I reinstalled my custom rom and wiped the PhoneSwipe app from my phone.

This shouldn't have been an issue but when I tried to redownload it from the Play store, I found out that they had updated the app to be runnable only by Android 2.4 or higher.

Since the Merit is 2.3.5, this is now an issue. Is there anyone that would be able in assisting me to upgrade my Merit to a 2.4?

There is no such thing as 2.4. After 2.3.7, Google started on HoneyComb, which never dropped as open source. Following that was ICS, and I'm working on that one...
