Mine does when I am in a call and hit "home" as a reminder that the phone line is open. did you have a call-waiting call come in and the other one never terminated? Do you have any apps that could be initiating calls? lastly, maybe some app or process is triggering that effect from the Dialer/Phone app somehow...

I think it happens when you're on a call and you hit the home key (to open an app or browser)
