when phone in sleep mode, anyway to tell if theres a text or voice mail on galaxy s2 without waking phone up ie flashing light

Root and install a rom with bln, but it will eat battery life a lot faster. Otherwise, no. There are apps too, but they turn on the screen, which is an even bigger battery killer.

Bln makes the four keys at bottom of the screen flash.
