Help Message notification beeps randomly but no message/notification

Using stock SGS2 with stock touchwiz. Sometimes my phone notification sound comes out randomly and when I check the phone there is no message or any notification. I have no idea why this occurs. Does anyone have any ideas?

I wonder, is your Message notification sound being used by other app's? Check in... Settings > Sound > Default notifications... if the same as your message app, you could change it to help narrow things down.

If I change that, then all notifications will have the new sound? As that is the "default notification" sound.

Correct... but your message app will have its own notification as well. So, you need to change that one to narrow it down. At the moment you are blaming the message app... when it could in fact be any app on your phone that uses the default notification.

Ok. I have changed my default notification and also set a different message sound. Will update once I get those random sound back.

Try going through other app's on your phone that use a notification tone, such as calendar, etc; and assign them all different tones. That way you can track down the culprit easier.

Got it. It is the "default notification" and not the android sound. I have no idea which app is making it now.
