Help Message Notifications still show a value when all is read.

I'm suffering some weird symptoms with messaging.

I get a text or text's, it shows the number of them that I have received, I read them, yet when I return to the home screen it still shows that I have unread texts.

Yet I have read them all & there's none to be read!
I try to get rid of it, yet can't until I restart the phone!

Any idea how to get rid of this weird phenomena?

I've always had problems with unread notifications on Android.
Gingerbread, ICS on two different phones using different launchers and apps.

Now if it works.. great.
If it doesn't work properly (invariably it doesn't) then meh, I give up...

I found that sometimes going into the social hub and reading the messages cleared the notification

Thanks. But I've now had enough of the ongoing problems that ICS has bought me since its installation and have now contacted Samsung CS and they have said it will have to go back for repair.

Outstanding issues are:

1/ Bluetooth streaming & media transfers. I've had to spend extra money on a brand new dongle for the PC & get BlueSoleil software for it to be recognised in any way shape or form.

2/ Email client, force closes

3/ Opera Mobile or Mini + other browsers, freeze

4/ Stock browser - freezing.

5/ Web connection via Wi-Fi - Regularly disconnects despite being just a couple of feet away from a brand new Draytek wireless router.

6/ Messaging/Email - False alerts, alerts not clearing after being read.

7/ Regular black screens when pressing the Home button, the only way to retrieve it is to take the battery out & reboot.
