I have just come from S3 to the Z1 and the thing i liked about the S3 is when i had a text the screen would come on when the text came through and this doesnt happen on the Z1 from what i can tell so is there an app or something that can do this?

You'd need a 3rd Party app for this because as far as I can tell, the Z1 won't do this by default.

Take a look at something like light flow or light manager on Play.

Thanks. I have heard of them and used Light Flow on S3 to do the LED light. Does it make the screen come on then with certain notifications then?

Yep, if you select the app you want to configure notifications for, head to the notifications page and scroll down to the bottom of the page, there's a "switch screen on" option.

It turns the screen on for 5 seconds whenever a notification comes through.
