Root Messages delayed?

I just started having a problem where messages are starting to be delayed being sent to me. I had sent my wife a text and she responded right after getting it. I had started driving to her work which takes 10 minutes and had gotten there and been there a few minutes before I got her response. Mine reach her fine and I watched her type in and send a reply which took almost 10 minutes to get to me even though her phone said it was "sent" right after she told it to send. I'm hoping that this is a "tower" problem and not one with velocity, but find it hard that I can send one that's almost instantly there but replies take forever to come back even when the phones are are only a few feet apart (Yes I know it goes to the tower then back out to the other phone).... Any ideas.... I'm sure and almost completely positive that it's the tower but can't figure out why it seems to be only on incoming msgs to my phone but her's is ok.... LOL

I've done those, They have been doing tower work in some spots here, so i'll check it out later and see, others who live farther away have their messages delivered fairly quick, so i'm thinking it's the turn around at local towers..

I have also experienced this problem... worse than you have apparently. I have "missed"... actually not received is the proper term, 4 MMS messages and 6 SMS messages that I know of. All of these have been confirmed by comparing my message log with the senders log side by side.

Verizon says that happens sometimes because voicemails, sms, mms etc. get "stuck in the switch". That's actually what they said, no idea what it means but basically it happens and they know about it, yet they offer no solution.

For the record, this happened when my phone was stock so its definitely not a velocity thing. It also happened before I even had a smart phone, it happened when I had one of those flip phones that looks like an electric shaver.
