Help Messaging App Crashes

The messaging app on my LG Shine PLus is crashing a lot. Whats the problem?

It did it like 7 times yesterday and I tried setting the keyboard to English(United States) and that didnt work. What could it be?
 
turns out it happening with Handcent SMS app as well 3 times one after another.

What is wrong with my phone?
 
I think it has to do with memory, apps tend to FC when it's out of memory and the OS decides to terminate it. Happens most often when the OS UI (desktop) flips from portrait to landscape often which eats memory very quickly. I've had a handful of apps crash because of it and was constantly having problems with LauncherPro crashing when flipping orientation but that problem went away when I installed Zeam which uses very little memory.
 
I had my messenger app crash on me a couple times, but never once after another. If it did it once, it wouldn't do it again immediately after. It was always spread out over time. i also tried different messenger apps, and then went back to the stock one. it actually hasn't crashed in a while now, for whatever reason.
