Messaging App Missing.

Hawker

I have a bog standard GS2 on Orange UK.
I can access Messaging via the bottom row icons, but if I open Apps via the bottom line, it isnt there. If I go into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications then Messaging is there.

However, if I change my homescreen from Samsung style to Orange style, then it is in the list of applications on pressing the Apps icon.

How can I add the Messaging icon to the list of Apps under the App Key? I'm a little tentative in case I accidentally delete Messaging from the bottom row and will therefore be unable to bring it back up again

Go to the app drawer, and press the menu key (the soft key on the bottom left of the phone). You can then choose edit. Once you are in edit mode, you may drag and drop any app icon to the bottom row. You can also move apps around the app drawer using the same method when in edit mode.

But this is my problem. The Messaging app isnt in my list of applications in the first place (the list you get when you press the "Applications" button. If I drag it from the bottom row of icons into the Applications space, I then lose it from the bottom row of 4. I dont want this. I would feel safer to get this back into the Applications list in addition to the bottom row.

I'm afraid that is how it is unfortunately. You can drag it on to a home screen, and a shortcut is made. But the bottom row of 4 icons is an extension of the app drawer (you cant have it in both locations at once). If you move it from the bottom row back in to the app drawer, it won't get lost I promise.

Ok. thanks for that.

Seems a bit strange why when I select the Orange homescreen I can see messaging in both the app list and in the bottom 4 icons.

And on a similar note, when in "Orange" mode, I can select a handy Orange widget to show a preview of my SMS inbox as a widget on a homescreen. I cannot select this when in Samsung homescreen mode, but I can select all the other Orange widgets. Its a shame, as this is the only Orange widget I would use!
