Help messaging app slow??

Overall my skyrocket is pretty quick, except messaging :-/ The app takes forever to open and close, & while I'm inputting text, it's very slow to respond to everything I do & sometimes it completely stops responding for about 20 seconds. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the network because everything else works great.
Any suggestions on how to fix this??

Also, yes I've restarted the phone multiple times, and it was updated Thursday with no change in this issue

i have no problem using messaging app. It works fast for me! Do you use stock sms app or third party app? if not try "Go sms" app from play store. I personally like stock application its much simpler to use
