How can I make the HTC message widget default to handcent? Never had a problem with it on my previous phones. I had the HTC widget on one of my home pages, click on a message, it would open it up in handcent. Trying to do that on the 3vo only puts you in the HTC messaging. Anyone know?

I had the same problem.... I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked. Good luck.
I just tried that and it didn't work. Normally I would get a window asking which I want as default but im just not getting it.

Go into Handcent settings, application settings default messaging application, select All(SMS & MMS) and this should do it.
One note, it turned off messaging for me but did nothing for Google Voice, in fact messages that come in on my GV number don't even show up in Handcent like they did with my Evo 4G.

I did that too and nothing. If I click on the HTC message widget it takes me into it but not handcent.

The HTC shortcut will not go into Handcent, remove that and replace it with a Handcent shortcut.

Also make sure you disable notifications in the native messaging app so you don't get duplicates.
On all previous Android phones I would use the HTC messaging widget on one of my home screns. But when I would first use it by pressaing on a message, I would get a pop up that asks which I want as a default, the HTC messagaing or Handcent messaging. Once I would click the Handcent as default then anytime I clicked on the HTC widget, it would open the message in Handcent. This phone won't let me do it.

I dont like the text app that came with the phone. I downloaded handcent from the market, and now i am having to manage 2 different text apps. I get the message in the original text app, and then in the handcent app. I would only like to manage my texts from the handcent. Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid/disable the original text app, or make it so the message doesnt show up there? thanks in advance.
