Root Messaging Notifications Missing

I'm using the stock msg system and I don't get a notification on the mms/sms icon. I only get notification in the status bar. Thoughts about this?
 
Go to the settings in the message app and see if that somehow got turned off, I don't really know the stock message app because I use handcent but I know that it has notification settings. If that is not it come back and I will try to help more.
 
Okay, maybe you can help me figure this out. So I'm running rooted and Fresh Rom. I use gmail. Now, I am confused about what widget I should use. There is one for "mail" and one for "gmail". I have had the "gmail" one installed before along with the little number notification on the gmail icon. But now for some reason, I'm not getting the number notification. I'm getting notification in the status bar. So I've uninstalled the gmail icon and the "unread count" program. And then reinstalled both and put on the widget. Still not doing it. . .
thoughts?
 
I would use the one for gmail, I think the other is made for other email such as hotmail. As for the number notification I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about, do you meen in the notification bar or on the icon on the home screen because I'm pretty sure you can't get one on the home screen icon and I'm pretty sure in the notification bar it will only show the icon and then when you pull it down it will show how many unread emails you have although that may have something to do with the ROM you are running I'm not familiar with Fresh and if it is themed, I'm also not to familiar with the gmail app because I have it to only sync when I tell it to that way it saves battery :D
