Root messed up bootloader

i have a HTC EVO 4G (hence why im here) and i just rooted it, after i rooted i made a backup with rom manager and installed "clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.7" i then tried to unlock my NAND and while i was updating in fastboot my bootloader failed to update. now this wouldnt be a problem except i cant for the life of me figure out how to restore the backup i created in ClockworkMod. i can get into CW but i cant select anything. the power button just hides the text on the screen and the volume buttons move the selector. any help would be appreciated. oh, and i have tried to use RUU to flash back to stock but my computer wont detect my device.

i figure ill try to get a friends Droid and put the PC36IMG file on his sd card and then put his card in my EVO, hopefully that will work properly. ill let you know.
