Help Messy Song sorting

cdinkel91

Lurker
I got an S3 today and I am very happy with it, but I've tried all day to find a fix to the only problem I've had and all the info is either outdated or doesn't work.

My songs I'm importing are just a mess, some have no album art, some have no artist and a lot of them have their track listing in the title.

Obviously this isn't what I want, in iTunes I keep everything specifically labeled and have art for EVERYTHING.

I tried transferring straight copy paste style
I tried using Easy Phone Sync
I couldn't use doubletwist because no USB Mass Storage mode

It's pretty consistent which songs it does and doesn't want to transfer tags for. Tips?

I'm having a really annoying problem with the music player as well, I get annoying things like this:

I use the third party app Player Pro which does a great job of sorting and adding album\artist art.

I would imagine the files themselves are labelled badly, the ID3 tags on the files have missing information and that's what's causing them to be displayed incorrectly.

Where are you importing them from?

I'm copy pasting into the music folder. In my Itunes library I have everything properly labeled.

I too use Player Pro and LOVE it, it auto pulls down artwork and lets me edit the ID3 tags on the fly. Great app, use it everyday!

^ *tags? :P
Player Pro is good. I used it until i switched to PowerAmp.. cant remember why now.. think PA handled my way of organising music in folders better or something

I am getting them from iTunes on my Mac, where they are just fine. They sort correctly on my iPad as well. I used the Kies software to transfer them to the phone.

Oh, I just looked at it, and TuneSync does NOT work with the Samsung music player. It copies the files to a location the Samsung music player does not see.

Thanks mate, good to know :) I haven't transferred any music from my iTunes so it was a guess on my part

what location is that? I have not seen any location that the stock music player can not read.

found another app

"While iTunes won't sync media and other files to Android devices by default, with a little work and a third-party application, the two can talk to each other. Two apps that can sync iTunes and Android are AirSync from doubleTwist and TuneSync from High Wind Software."

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It can't put iTunes playlists into a place or format where the Samsung music player can use them. The problem is actually with the Samsung player, not iTunes.

Tbh id say its itunes thats CAUSING the problem :)

No, the problem is that the Samsung music player looks for the playlists in a non-standard location on an Android device, which TuneSync can't deal with for some reason.

As for the problem I had above, with the screenshot, I deleted the tracks that showed up as duplicates, re-synced them using Kies (what a piece of crap that is), and now they're showing up the way I would expect them to. Annoying to have to go through my whole library and do that, but whatever. I may still ditch the Samsung music player.

I use Airdroid to transfer my music and that works pretty well, it also does a ton of other useful stuff :)

Or you could try Airsync which is made for transferring iTunes music to your phone
